Cooking Class Participant Testimonials:

Daily life takes us to many places where we meet different kinds of people. We buy from them sell to them, manage them, negotiate with them, entertain them, give and seek advice and so forth. We usually have a goal in mind and we use our abilities and experience to achieve a desired outcome. But during these events, we rarely really talk to the people we meet. Anne's cooking classes are different. The atmosphere during the classes I have taken conjure up images of what I image it must have been like when women worked together to cook, wash, mend, quilt, etc. in the past. We worked, talked and shared a bit of ourselves. It was a delightful experience.

Anne provides a multi-course menu and the recipes for preparing each dish. Each person is responsible for a menu item. Yes, there is a goal: to prepare the meal and eat it. But during the process, a warm exchange of pasts, presents and even futures float around the room with the wonderful, sometimes unusual smells of the cooking. Then we sit and eat, commenting on each course, praising the cook and planning to make it again. Because we see how each course is prepared it is easier to replicate than merely reading a recipe. Plus you immediately know whether you like it or not.

And the food is a surprise. The recipes are vegetarian. I couldn't imagine loving vegetarian food. I have never been inside a vegetarian restaurant and didn't own a vegetarian cookbook prior to taking the class. I have been very pleasantly surprised. I have bought several vegetarian cookbooks and a pressure cooker, and although I will never become a vegetarian, my mind has opened to the possibilities of vegetarian food. I often cook it and really enjoy it, thanks to Anne and my terrific cooking mates!

Wanted to thank you again, let you know how much I enjoyed your cooking class (not tomention the left-overs). You had asked me to think about how I felt the next day. I feel good-- (physically) and motivated to learn more about how to utilize healthier, organic food options (for a variety of health reasons). I will be speaking to a few friends who I believe will be interested in joining us in another class.

Anne's cooking classes are a rare and exceptional experience. She creates an atmosphere of acceptance, fun and adventure. All you need to do is show up and she presents you with a beautiful well thought-out menu and carefully chosen fresh organic ingredients. She is right there encouraging and guiding inexperienced hands as you do the cooking, and she gives each person full praise and credit for the dish they choose to make. Then she sets a beautiful table and everyone eats in silence for the first few minutes to fully experience the flavors and textures of the fresh food. We then discuss each dish and each person tells what they think of "their creation", and how they might change it when they make it at home, encouraging us to be creative and make the meal our own. I have seen myself and others come in the class, none too happy and even in physical pain, and during the dinner watched a happiness and ease come over each person. I experienced immediate relief from severe back pain after eating a meal we cooked in her class, proof that food is medicine.
